Lucerne
lies at the north end of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstätter See) where the River Reuss flows out of the lake. The town, with its well-preserved medieval core, elegant historic buildings, and genial atmosphere, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Switzerland. In an independent study Lucern was actually found to be the Alps most successful summer destination (and second for all year around) and is also often referred to as the pocket sized version of Switzerland (by culturetrip.com)
